Remember the whole journey

“For the LORD thy God hath blessed thee in all the works of thy hand: he knoweth thy walking through this great wilderness: these forty years the LORD thy God hath been with thee; thou hast lacked nothing.”Deuteronomy 2:7 · KJV

Read in your Bible: Deuteronomy 1–2.

Moses begins his final addresses by recalling Israel's journey, including the refusal to enter the land and the long wilderness years. The story includes painful failure as well as God's provision. Israel needs an honest memory before taking another step.

Remembering God's care does not require pretending that every decision was faithful. Moses names rebellion and consequence within the same history as guidance. Gratitude becomes deeper when it can tell the truth about both God's generosity and our need for correction.

Look back without rewriting your mistakes or overlooking the help you received. Identify one lesson that should change your next decision. A remembered failure can become an occasion for repentance instead of a permanent identity.
