A finished work, a near God

“Then a cloud covered the tent of the congregation, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle.”Exodus 40:34 · KJV

Read in your Bible: Exodus 39–40; Leviticus 1.

Moses inspects the completed sanctuary, and the tabernacle is set up. God's glory fills it. Leviticus then begins with instructions about approaching the Lord through offerings, connecting God's presence with a way of worship He provides.

The artisans' achievement is not the climax by itself; God's dwelling among His people is. Carefully completed religious work must serve fellowship with Him rather than become a monument to human competence. The sacrificial system will direct Christian readers toward Jesus.

Finish an entrusted task with care, then refuse to make the task your source of identity. Pause to thank God for His presence and for the people whose unnoticed work helped make service possible.

A question to sit with

Have I become more attentive to a religious task than to the God it serves?

AN EVERYDAY ACT OF LOVE

Thank someone whose careful, unnoticed work has helped others worship or serve.

Let us pray

Lord, thank You for drawing near to Your people. Help me finish my work faithfully, honour others' contributions and remember that no achievement can replace fellowship with You. Amen.
