Carrying names before God

“And Aaron shall bear the names of the children of Israel in the breastplate of judgment upon his heart, when he goeth in unto the holy place, for a memorial before the LORD continually.”Exodus 28:29 · KJV

Read in your Bible: Exodus 27–28.

The instructions for priestly clothing place Israel's tribal names on the high priest's garments. Aaron is to bear those names before the Lord. The details describe representative service, not merely impressive religious dress.

A priest's visible dignity is inseparable from responsibility for people. In the wider biblical witness, Christ is our true High Priest, who represents His people through His sufficient sacrifice and continuing ministry. Human ministers serve under Him; they cannot take His place.

Carry someone's name into prayer today without turning their private need into public conversation. Spiritual responsibility is expressed through faithful intercession, truthful care and humility, not through the demand to be admired.

A question to sit with

Whose name do I discuss more readily than I bring to God in prayer?

AN EVERYDAY ACT OF LOVE

Pray privately for one person and offer help without revealing their confidence.

Let us pray

Jesus, our High Priest, thank You for representing us before the Father. Teach me quiet intercession and respectful care for others, and keep every human ministry subject to Your Word. Amen.
