Greatness that kneels

“Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.”Matthew 20:28 · KJV

Read in your Bible: Matthew 18–20.

Jesus teaches care for little ones, repeated forgiveness and a kingdom generosity that unsettles comparison. As the disciples seek positions of honour, He explains that the Son of man came to serve and give His life. Their model of greatness must be remade.

Service is not a strategy for earning a higher place. It follows the Saviour whose gift precedes our response. Forgiveness also does not mean ignoring abuse or restoring trust without accountability; the same chapters take harm and responsible community action seriously.

Do one necessary act of service without using it to claim recognition. If facing a wrong, seek a response that joins mercy with truthful boundaries. Ask whether ambition has made you less able to notice a person who cannot advance your interests.
