Bring us back

“Turn us again, O God, and cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved.”Psalms 80:3 · KJV

Read in your Bible: Psalms 80–88.

Repeated appeals for restoration give Psalm 80 its rhythm. Other psalms in the reading long for God's courts, celebrate mercy and speak from deep darkness. The collection does not require every prayer to end with an immediate emotional resolution.

Returning to God is a request for His gracious work as well as a personal response. The darkest psalms remind us not to judge faith by a cheerful ending. Honest lament can remain prayer even when the speaker cannot yet see a way forward.

Pray for restoration in a neglected part of your life. Ask what response is yours without assuming you can repair everything alone. If another person remains in sorrow, stay present rather than insisting their prayer should already sound hopeful.

A question to sit with

Where do I need restoration rather than merely an improved appearance?

AN EVERYDAY ACT OF LOVE

Resume one neglected spiritual practice and offer patient support to someone in a difficult season.

Let us pray

Restoring God, turn my heart toward You and guide the repair I can responsibly begin. Stay near those who cannot yet see hope, and teach me patient companionship in their darkness. Amen.
